About iShelter

iShelter is behind Tabor House, an accommodation project based in Birmingham for people experiencing homelessness.

iShelter is about the art of the possible; working with our guests to stand tall again through mentoring, and providing a safe and secure place to live.

Tabor House has up to eight guests at any one time, providing a support network that aims to help them into employment and independent living.

About Tabor House
Our approach

iShelter’s first project, Tabor House, opened in Digbeth in September 2017 with six beds as a pilot scheme. This increased to 12 beds and has now moved to eight, to accommodate Covid-19 restrictions.

Tabor House is managed in partnership with Father Hudson’s Care and run by a small, core team on site, as well as a host of trained, dedicated volunteers who work evening, overnight and morning shifts.

Our approach is to go beyond offering a warm place to stay; we also have a strength-based mentoring programme to work with individuals, give them every chance to find their feet again, and make plans for the future.

iShelter and its mentoring programme have helped many individuals to secure employment and subsequently move to their own rented accommodation; since opening in 2017, 70 people have been helped with over 50% of them moving on positively.
iShelter is making a genuine difference to homelessness – offering people a hand-up not just a hand-out.
