Tabor House is Birmingham’s only permanent night shelter for people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham. The project provides a safe and welcoming environment for our guests, with evening meals, breakfasts, showers and laundry.
Guests are referred to Tabor House, having been identified by one of two referral organisations; SIFA Fireside and the Roughsleepers team at Midland Heart.
Once at Tabor House, guests could stay for three – up to 28 nights, following which a review is conducted to better understand the challenges of moving the guest into a more permanent home.
For guests who are invited to stay for 28 nights, they are supported by a trained Volunteer Mentor, who will continue to see them on a weekly basis for at least three months.
Tabor House is currently a pilot project, whereby the Management Committee, staff and volunteers seek to learn to provide the best service possible for our guests.
