Last month, we took part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge for the first time and, thanks to some very generous donations, we smashed our target raising £22,155!
The Big Give is a brilliant platform that brings charities, philanthropists and the public together to multiply their impact. Over the years, it has raised over £156m for thousands of great causes through the power of match funding, and now Tabor House joins that list!
We set a target of £17,000 to help us with the rising costs of running Tabor House since becoming a 24-hour project during the pandemic. Moving from a night shelter, we have had to adapt our offering to keep supporting those who need it. Now, we’re open 24 hours and have changed from an open plan living space to individual perspex pods. Our army of volunteers has also had to be reduced, to work within Covid-19 “bubbles”, which means that our staffing costs have increased. We’re so happy to be able to keep operating and supporting people through our strength-based mentoring, but the financial impact is something that we have to continue fundraising for.
Thanks to 137 generous donations, our match-funded #biggivechristmaschallenge surpassed its £17k target by raising a whopping £22,155. Every penny will go towards our running costs and ensuring that we can get more people off the streets of Birmingham and into employment and independent living.
It’s not too late if you’d like to support us, you can do so all year round via our JustGiving page. Every penny counts!
