About iShelter

iShelter is behind Tabor House, Birmingham’s only permanent night shelter for people experiencing tough times on the streets.

iShelter is about the art of the possible; working with our guests to stand tall again through mentoring, and providing a safe and secure place to live.

We house 12 people at any one time and provide a support network that aims to help them into employment and independent living.

About Tabor House
Our approach

Our first project, Tabor House, opened in Digbeth in September 2017 with six beds as a pilot scheme. We have now increased to 12 beds.

Tabor House is managed by Father Hudson’s Care and run by a small, core team on site, as well as a host of trained, dedicated volunteers who work evening, overnight and morning shifts.

Our approach is to go beyond offering a warm place to stay; we also have a mentoring programme to work with individuals, give them every chance to find their feet again, and make plans for the future.

iShelter and its mentoring programme have helped many individuals to secure employment and subsequently move to their own rented accommodation. iShelter is making a genuine difference to homelessness – offering people a hand-up not just a hand-out.
